Wet and Windy Day!

Hi!  Well this has been the week that saw storm Doris cause havoc in the UK.  Thankfully she didn't hang around too long.  The weather is pretty miserable here today. I don't think it's stopped raining!
A bit of me time today has been spent tidying the craft room.  When I say tidying, I mean "trying to find the floor"! Oops!

I've a few crafty orders coming so I need to make some space!

One thing that doesn't take up physical space is digi stamps (thank goodness!) and there are some lovely new releases at Bugaboo so I just had to treat myself!

Here is my first play.  This was all about the colouring so the card is very simple!

Oh So Succulent

Hi!

Another weekend over and a new week ahead!  Busy day today running about ticking lots off the to-do list!  Always a good day when that happens.. feels like I have achieved something!

A little crafty time was spent making this card:

It's a simple one layer card using some gorgeous stamp sets from Stampin' Up!  I've not had much time to really play with all my new Stampin' Up! haul so it was great fun just to make this quick card.
Three stamp sets used:  Oh So Succulent, Designer Tee and Delicate Details.
I started with just masking off the strip across the middle then just stamped kind of random.  I thought the masked off area needed something to finish it off so I used the Delicate Details set - a gorgeous lace effect!  And I LOVE the font for Happy Birthday!

Not enough?

Hi!  You know that sometimes without knowing it you develop a style or a safe zone when you craft?  And when you make something that doesn't quite fit the mould the you wonder if it's ok?  This is my problem.. most of the cards I make follow the same "formula", probably because I love to colour.  But then when I leave the image to stand on it's own.. adding very little extra to the card, I wonder "is it enough?"

I was having a play colouring a little Gorjuss Girl image and, rather than making her part of a larger, more complex card, I decided to just go for one simple layer with a simple sentiment.  I really did enjoy colouring her.. the vibrant blues were so lovely to blend.

And now I wonder, should I "mass produce"?  I only really make one of each card. I very rarely duplicate or make sets.  I like to think of each project as something new.  I have so many Grojuss stamps I thinking I could maybe make a card with each - mass produce (LOL!) with some individuality!

Have a lovely weekend!

Lil Patch of Crafty Friends Challenge #52

Hi!  And another month passes by which means it's Design Team B time to play over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends!

We have some lovely sponsors this month (as always!) and I was lucky enough to have a cute little tiger image from Kitty Bee Designs to play with.  He's called "Ty the Tiger" and I've chosen to colour him with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers.  I've kept the card layout quite simple and just embossed hearts on a plain white background.

Here he is!

Why not join our challenge over at LPOCF?  There's some terrific prizes to be won!

Hello Friday! and Hello Challenge!

fHi!  Another week!  This was a good one.. it started with a lovely holiday over in St. Monans in Fife in the most gorgeous little waterfront cottage. Perfect tranquillity, a bit of luxury and a log fire.. topped off with an unspoilt sea view and some pretty amazing (windy!) weather - always great if you are watching the waves!   So, it was a lovely relaxing start.   And now, it's challenge time again over at Crafting With Friends!

My choice of image for this "Anything Goes" challenge is Love Note Fairy - Love is in the Air by Lacy Sunshine.  Well, it was Valentines day this week!

Here she is.  Coloured with Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers and colours inspired by Tim Holtz papers.

I chose to make this an easel card so that the image could be the real focus.  She's great fun to colour!

Why not pop over to Crafting With Friends and join our challenge!

Little Lily of The Valley

Hello!

Here we are at the start of a new week!  And my mojo has returned! I got some of the new Stampingbella stamps last week and this has been my first chance to play.  One of the sets is Tiny Townie Garden Girl - Lily of the Valley.  She is so lovely to colour!

My colour choice was inspired by papers from Stampin' Up! Cupcakes and Carousels DSP.  Matched with Calypso Coral, Peekaboo Peach and Lucky Limeade.   Dies and punches are Stampin' Up!, Sizzix and Tim Holtz.

What to do..

..when your mojo has deserted you?!

I've had a productive weekend so far but it's not been crafting.  Some family stuff to do and also a craft fair which went really well.  So I find myself with time today.. and just typical.. the mojo has gone AWOL!

I'm still (supposed) to be in the process of spring cleaning, and that includes the craft room.  So I had a wee rummage around and I found a card kit I bought years ago.  I don't really do too well with kits.  Whilst they look great, I find that I have no inspiration when I actually open them.  This one contained lots of elements including pre-cut present shapes.  Rather than waste them or the time I gave myself a shake and made a card type I haven't made for ages.  I pop up box.   Trust me, if you have never tried one of these then you should give it a go.  They are the absolute easiest 3D cards to make.  They are so straight forward.  Once you get the hang of your first one you will be knocking them up in no time!  A lot less work than all the colouring and elements that go into a 2D card.

Here's the basics.. and this can be re-sized to ANY size you want - you don't even need to use squares - you can make the sides any size.  I went with squares for my card.

Start with a piece of A4 cardstock and trim it so it measures just under 30cm (the length it is anyway) by 14cm.  Score it on the long side at 7cm, 14cm, 21cm and 28 cm.  Then score on the short side at 7cm.  This will give you 4 squares of 7cm x 7cm  in length (with just under 2cm left to make the tab to connect it all), and 2 squares of 7cm in height.

This give your the card base.  You can then mat and layer your favourite papers and cardstock on the different sections.  You can do this first before you assemble. The easiest way to assemble the base is to use some glue or DST on the little flap (on the bottom right above).  Fold the card on the 14 cm score line and fold in the little flap at 28cm.  Then fold it in half to adhere.  When it's stuck you can then open it out to have your basic box shape.

There are then two or three little z fold tabs stuck in the middle of the box to stuck your embellishments to. These need to be the same width as the sides of the box.. in this case 7cm.

I used acetate to mount up the embellishments so they look to be exploding from the box.

Have fun!
