Sincerely Yours Show

What a lovely afternoon! Spent it at the Climbing Arena just outside Edinburgh at the Sincerely Yours Papercraft show.  Small show but I think the best shows are.  Not too many stalls but the companies that were there were great, and there was a lot of variety! Enough to encourage me to get some new stuff!

  • Two new Marianne Design Creatables dies - "Garden Branch" and "Tags"
  • Three gorgeous new Liquid Pearls from Ranger - Buttercup, Flamingo and Cantaloupe
  • Two Sizzix Phase dies - "Thanks" and "Love"
  • A cute Belles n Whistles stamp
  • Three sets of card blanks from Craftwork Cards
  • Some papers, images, greetings and card candy from Craftwork Cards, including the Cottontail range
  • A Tatty Button Stamp - Rainy Days
  • Two Kaisercraft clear stamp sets - one is script - great for a background, and the other is birthday greetings
  • Three stamp sets from Paper Artsy which I have wanted for ages - "Flora and Fauna", "Egg and Nog 4", and "Flora and Fauna 1"
  • Also got some new acrylic blocks, glue and DS tape

Sorted!  At least for a wee while.

Disappointed that I didn't get any nice new papers but I didn't see any.  Shouldn't really have even been looking though as I did recently get EP Summer Days, and Fancy Pants Beach Babe!! So it's not like I'm going to run out anytime soon!

Another day... another garden centre!

...and here's what we got!

And just had the most brilliant first BBQ of the year!  Ok, needed the patio heater on but still lovely! Brilliant to chill out in the garden!

A thoughtful cat!

I've not had any time to craft this last wee while but did take the pic of Freckles looking extremely cute!  Might try and get some crafting done again soon as I have some cards to make for birthdays coming up soon.

Daisies and a beautiful day!

Just a quick make, inspired by the beautiful weather today, a trip to the garden centre, and my new Stampin' Up Boho Flowers punch!
Using up some scraps of kraft cardstock along with Old Olive and Daffodil Delight from Stampin' Up. The leaf and sentiment are also Stampin' Up - Sweet Summer and So Happy for You.
Other punches used are Martha Stewart and Marianne D's.   And the linen thread is Stampin' Up - gotta get more of that!!

Just loving these papers from Bo Bunny - the Vicki B collection. Nice and bright and cheery. Just like the weather today!
Pretty in Pink

80th Birthday

The first of three 80th cards I've been asked to make. This design is inspired by Gill - she has such brilliant ideas!  The flower dies are Marianne Designs - the cute little button centre is so sweet!

dad.

made for a very good friend who's dad is now 70!
 I hope he loved them!
Made me think about my dad..would have loved to be making him cards but somethings aren't meant to be.. and now 21 years ago since he died.  But life goes on! Been a difficult few weeks with anniversaries of things and a funeral but got through it thanks to good friends.

now.... what crafty goodies can I shop for!!  lol!

A little embellishment book

a brilliant wee expanding book.. perfect for keeping embellishments in!

All credit for this lovely design goes to Gill who leads our weekly craft class.  I don't know where all the inspiration comes from but she is brilliant!

Simple and straightforward

Nothing complicated about these cards.. but I like them. Sometimes simple is good.

New Toy!...

...and  a very quick 5 minute play!
why did I not think of it before?? watercolours!!   Much more vibrant colour than the Marvys or watercolour pencils.  Got this set of 45 Cotman half pans for a bargain price reduced significantly from the £60 rrp!

First attempt was very quick, but already loving the results!

What's Hot! New Page!

Hi!

I may not always get much time to craft but I do steal the minutes to look around the online shops and other fantastic blogs!  I often find things I like and then forget about them so.. I thought.. why not create a page to be an ongoing list of everything I see that I like!!  A bit like a wish list of craft items!   I've created a new page on this blog to do just that.. called "What's Hot!".  I intend to update this everytime I see something worth drooling over, or inspiring to me.

I hope you also find it a source of inspiration... but don't blame me if you get the urge to do some shopping!!   (The link is at the top of the blog.. or you can click this link!

Have fun!

Nearly March Already!

Wow! I can't believe how quickly this year is going in! March tomorrow! And one of the best crafty months of the year!

SECC Hobbycrafts this weekend, and then just enough time to recover and then it's the Great Northern Papercraft Extravaganza on the 19th and 20th!  Always a great weekend... just unfortunately they are both before the next pay day!!

Low hanging fruit

Just going to call this one "low hanging fruit" as the red beads made me think of cherries!
The beads are strung on 7 strand beadalon through a small belcher chain.

The set together

A better photo. I still need to get to grips with PhotoShop Elements. (maybe I should just read the instructions??)

Frog Prince

In the spirit of all things green! Just a wee card using up some scraps!

Lariat, with green porcelain handpainted focal

To go with the earrings! This was the focal bead to match - probably should have made the necklace first then the earrings! This lariat style necklace is strung on .015 beadalon 7 strands (Bright). The little silver beads are Miyuki silver lined seed beads - size 11. Quite a quick wee make!

Ceramic Earrings

A quick make using longer length kidney wires. The beads are hand made and hand painted (not by me!) ceramic. I liked the bright green!

Beads

Hello! So much for me blogging every day! I just never seem to get time - although I've no excuse as I've been on holiday for a week! Thought I would try some beading again as it's been absolutely ages since made anything!
I found some gorgeous David Christiansen furnace glass beads that I got at a bead fair about 2 years ago so I thought I would have a go at a bracelet. I made the earrings just to match using some two tone lustre crystals in a very pale blue and lilac. The silver beads are sterling silver so really shiny!
Might go and make some more earrings now!

Baby Face!

Saw this card in Crafts Beautiful (Feb 2011) and thought I would give it a try! The baby face is made with 3 circles cut using nesties the coloured with ProMarkers and some Dovecraft chalk. The papers are DCWV. Used two Cuttlebug embossing folders - "Baby" and "Swiss Dots".
If you want to find the original in the magazine it's on page 40. Great fun to make!

Experiencing Technical Difficulties!

Sorry I've not posted in ages! Been experiencing some technical challenges! New laptop - it's great! Makes me think my last one was powered by a couple of geriatric hamsters! This new one is great - but it has Photoshop Elements as the photo editing tool and I'm totally hopeless with it!! I definately need time to practice! Made loads of wee 12cm x12cm cards to use up some blanks that I had.. and use scraps of paper. I also went through all of my scraps and decided what I was going to keep - cut them all to either 6x6, 5x5, 4x4 or 3x3.. how organised of me!! Just about chopped my finger off with the guillotine one time!
Anyway... this card was just me playing with a new stamp from Stampin' Up.. its one of the stampin around ones called Neighbourhood. Kraft cardstock is Bazzil.

Twisted Easel Card

I was looking for a different style of card to make and found twisted easel cards. Easy to make once I worked out which way the fold goes! Papers on this are Stampin Up from the Bright Collection - Melon Mambo.
The flower is die cut from a die by Little Claire Designs.

Sunday, January 16, 2011

I had great intentions of posting new cards everyday but, hmm, I should have known the world would conspire against me to steel both my time and my inspiration. Made an effort today to make this. My only pre-requisite for the card was to be bright and cheery after the sheer and complete shock of doing my tax!
I found my moment of tranquility colouring a Penny Black I've not used for ages, with Pro Markers (need more practice!!). I have no idea who made these papers.. they came from deep within the black hole that is my 12x12 paper collection. But I like them.
The flowers and lace are from Wildorchid Crafts.. if you have visited them before the you know what an awesome collection of goodies they have.. and if you have not, then sit down and work out just how much you can justify spending!!! Luckily I got my goodies before doing my tax!!
Hopefully more cards from me this week, although I don't think "free time" is on my side. It could well be another whirl wind of a week!

The time to be happy is now...

Another Gorjuss girl. Coloured with Pro Markers (I'm practising!). Paper is from Prima Fairy Floral (again! - need to get another pad of this!). The sentiment is a Penny Black stamp I've had for ages. I need to try a different layout for my next card I think!

A space in your heart

I'm pretty sure this is a Sarah Kay stamp but I don't have the packaging and I can't remember where I got it! Coloured with pro markers. The sentiment is a Penny Black. Papers are from G C D Studios - the No Worries stack.

Elzybells Girl with flowers

Another paper from the Prima Fairy Flora collection. These really are lovely!
Thought I would have a rummage around to see what stamps I've not used for a while. Came across my collection of Elzybells... most are Christmas stamps (cause they are soooo cute!!). Found this one.. she's one of the first stamps I bought. She's stamped in Stazon and coloured with Pro Markers and On the Run markers.
I think I need to try and make a card that does not have Prima flowers on it!!

Tilda with Sunflower

Another Tilda stamp coloured with Pro Markers. Not so sure I like this one. And the colours haven't come up so well in this pic. The paper and flowers are Prima. The sentiment stamp is Lily of the Valley.

Tilda with Thistle

More practice with the Pro Markers. They are great to work with and it will be good to get them stored properly so I can see all the colours I have!! Then I can see what I still need to buy!!

p.s forgot to glitter her wings before taking the photo!
