Hello Birthday Girl

Hello! I hope your weekend is going well!   Can't believe it's May already!

A wee change for me today. No colouring (no time!)

Hey, It's Saturday!

And what better way to say hello to the weekend than a really big Cheers!

Having spent a lovely afternoon with the crafty girls colouring in I thought I would make a card for today.  I've been busy with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers colouring this one.  She's called "Opal the Optimist" from Stampingbella.
I love Stampingbella images, they are so fun to colour!  And the level of detail is great.
I love the watercolour effect with the Tim Holtz markers, they are super to work with and the colours blend so well together.

I'm going to enter this card in "A Gem of A Challenge" where the challenge this week is "Female Birthday".  The challenge closes on 22nd January so why no pop over and have a look!

Have a lovely weekend!

It's been a while!

Hi!  I'm not sure if anyone still visits here as I've been so bad at not posting any updates.  I would love to make a new years resolution to get better at posting regularly but sometimes life just gets in the way.  All of that aside, I hope you have all had a very happy New Year and are looking forward to a bright new 2016.

I have made one sort-of-resolution.. and that's to craft with what I have, to re-discover, and to try not to be tempted with so many new things.  I'm also promising myself a clear out, a de-clutter, some "life-laundry"!   I think the best approach is to start small, baby steps and all that!

My first task was to start tidying my craft space.  Being able to see the floor is a good start!  The craft bug has definitely taken hold of the younger member of the household.. but not papercraft, oh no.. she's taken up jewellery making and sewing!  So that could be quite handy when it comes to de-stashing all my beads, findings and cotton!  It also means we are a two-sewing-machine family!

Having only made Christmas cards recently it's always nice to get back into birthdays.  Here are a couple of recent makes.  The first is for a very special lady's 80th, and it the second is just me practicing with Tim Holtz Distress pens on watercolour paper.  The cupcake stamp is Tim Holtz Birthday Blueprints (I love these blue print stamps!)

Birthday Elephant

Sometimes, when inspiration is playing a game of hide and seek you need to just take things back to basics.  I know that style and techniques evolve and it's easy to get into the routine of making things in a similar why.. and I think that's true of this card. I've been kind of stuck for inspiration recently - which is why I've started playing around with Art Journalling techniques - and thats really helped as I've had to look beyond the crafty supplies in my immediate reach..  and in doing so I found an old HOTP pad of paper.. Nice bright colours.. and that's what inspired me to make this card!   I really need to use/donate/sell the majority of my 6x6 and 8x8 pads.. (to make room for new, obviously).. so I will be continuing to search through the mountains of paper I have.. who knows what I will find.. or how it will inspire me?!

Using up scraps

Using up some scraps of brown, green and orange that I found whilst tidying one small corner of the craft room!

Not had that much time to craft this weekend. Time taken up with a funeral and then a birthday - one extreme to the other.  Did manage to squeeze in a couple of hours learning the basics of crochet though - three more classes to go - it's absolutely fabby fun!

Saturated Canary

I just love these images from Saturated Canary. They are so easy and rewarding to colour!  Coloured here using SU! inks and a blender pen.  It was a very relaxing way to spend a Wednesday night in the company of the crafting group!

Been Busy

Been busy! Three 8x8" cards made to order for a friend. Love this Hero Arts Cupcake

Now that these are done I'm off to play with the 6 new sets of retired SU! stamps which arrived from the US today! Fun fun fun!!

No name for this one - too much chitter chatter from a 7 year old to distract me!

Here it is though - inspired by gorgeous Prima papers and one of my fav images from Saturated Canary.
All finished off with some classic Stampin' Up! cardstock in Crumb Cake and Early Expresso, and a die cut swirl by Die-namics.

She's also coloured using Stampin' Up! inks and a blender pen.

Some recent cards!

What a really busy week its been! Not complaining though got some quality crafting time last night with some good chat thrown in too! I would never have made these three cards if I hadn't done all my prep work in advance.  The cards are all 8x8" which is proving very popular!  And I have to say I'm really enjoying making that size too!

So busy I'm dizzy!

Wow! what a busy week its been! And a hectic weekend to follow! All good though!
I have loads of card orders to get through so I made a start on them, and some examples for my SU parties. Its been non stop!  The card above is made with the new 2011-2013 in colours: Lucky Limeade, Pool Party and Calypso Coral. The image is from Easy Events and coloured with SU watercolour pencils.

These papers are from the Tim Holtz Vintage Shabby stack - which I had been resisting until I saw it in Hobbycraft and just had to have it!

One very tired little girl today.  Sleepover here last night - giggling until about midnight!  Great fun though!

And a very busy week ahead so not much crafty time. Nice trip to London to look forward to though. Its all go!
